This piece was painted during a plein air Study session, on Penarth promenade. I looked to paint as quickly as possible, in order to gain a sense of movement. Because I had set my easel so closely to the shoreline I found myself in a position whereby I had to rush, due to the incoming tide.
It reached a point where it was unsafe to carry on painting in that position, so I packed up and continued to finish the piece in my home studio.
